The Greenwood family have practiced sustainable forestry management for over 60years. The mixed woodland is an intimate mix of 50% broadleaves and 50% conifers. The broadleaved woodland is managed on a continuous cover basis. Where possible trees are regenerated naturally, but if this is not possible bare root transplants are used to replace felled trees.

The Estate has an active thinning program which provides small diameter produce for the local  wood-fuel and fencing markets. Thinning is the removal of inferior trees to leave a high quality crop to grow on to maturity. Without this thinning woodlands would never grow into the magnificent airy, wildlife habitat with beautiful mature specimens of trees you see in our local countryside but would remain dark, spindly and inaccessible

In recent years the  Estate woodlands and sawmill have attained certificated status from the forest Stewardship  Council and have one a variety of awards from the Royal Forestry Society and The South Of England Agricultural Society.
